Album Info:Approximately 350 Military families from Wichita, KS were treated to a ride on the BNSF Special Holiday train. According to Andy Williams of BNSF, they have been doing this for 8 years to give thanks and appreciation to members of the armed forces and their families for the service they have given to our country. While on board the Holiday Express, families will be treated to special holiday snacks, given a commemorative holiday ornament and be visited by Santa. After the train ride, BNSF donated $10,000.00 to two charities, The Kansas National Guard Fund and the McConnell Officers spouse club.The 90 minute trip left Wichita Union Station and headed for Newton where they changed engine crews. The vintage passenger cars were sandwiched between two brand new ET44-C4 tier 4 diesel engines. When not in service, the passenger cars are stationed in Topeka. After Wichita, the train was headed for Amarillo.
